After the picket organised near the Chinese embassy in Paris, let us broaden the campaign for the release of the Chinese labour activists in jail !
On Monday December 21st, at 6 p.m. more than hundred activists gathered near the Chinese embassy under the banner of the China Inquiry Commission. They were answering the call launched by the HKCTU, the Hong Kong confederation of trade unions, to organise an international day of solidarity for the release of the activists defending labour rights who were arrested early in December in the Guandong province.
A delegation including representatives of two councils of the CGT and FO unions in the Paris region applied to be received at the embassy. They were denied access despite the numerous trade union resolutions which have been passed in less than a fortnight.
A message from the HKCTU, to the assembled activists, was read and the representative of the China Inquiry Commission called on those assembled to continue and strengthen this campaign, « these militants being our own comrades fighting for legitimate demands and labour rights just as we all do here ». « Request your unions to take position as soon as possible. We have had no news of the militants for 18 days! ».
The proposal was made to prepare a labour delegation to meet our Chinese friends and comrades whenever they
think it is most useful.
Long live the Chinese workers! Free Zeng, Zhu and all their comrades!
